Many thanks ! I'm expecting a fast decision - either way - as the embassy website is now listing only 30 Days for 99% of settlement decisions - presumably a grim symptom of the impact of the 2012 clampdown.

The 30 day vignette will be dated from the travel date you declare on your application, assuming a decision is made before that date.
After receiving the temporary vignette sticker, if you can't travel during it's 30 day window, you will need to apply for a replacement vignette. The visa itself is unaffected.

How to select a proposed 'Date Of Travel to the UK' in a spouse visa application.
Can i ask a simple question about the logistics of selecting a proposed 'Date Of Travel to the UK' in a spouse visa application.
If we put the application into VFS at the end of JUNE, and say we want to travel SEPTEMBER 1st - two months later - will they start the Visa from SEPTEMBER 1st ?
(ASSUMING SUCCESS !). Or will they do something weird and start the visa on the day they make the decision ? - which could be a lot earlier obviously.
Lastly - when does the 30-day VIGNETTE start in this scenario ? (only just learned about this exotically-named complication)
THANKS in advance !
