advice needed pls

sorry if this is the wrong section.

I have met a thai lady who has lived in the uk for the last 4 years, her marriage has broken down and are now seperated. We are dating and want to live together, the things i dont know are. I am on sick and not working no more and didnt know if she is allowed to live with me considering im not working and on benefits.

any help or advice is appreciated

Welcome to the forum ali,
First of all I would ascertain your lady friends visa status....if she has already been here 4 yrs it could be reasonably assumed that she will have ILR(indefinite leave to remain).If this is the case then your jobless/sick status will have NO bearing on your(sustaining) relationship.However,any other visa status below this could/will have a significant impact on your future together.

Hi, thanks for your reply, yeah she has Indefinate leave to remain visa im sorry but im totally new to this type of thing. I want her to move in with me and she also wants this but due to been on benefits i didnt know what to do

Happy days Ali. With an ILR she has (virtually)all the entitlements you have as a british subject.Only difference between ILR and Naturalisation(British citizen) is that if she leaves the UK for more than 2 yrs her ILR could be rescinded.Also,if times/work/health improves then schengen visas will be needed if you ever fancied holidaying abroad(Europe) together.Other than this feel free to live your life .....together

You do as you wish. If she has ILR there is nothing preventing her from moving in with you. Your rights and opportunities are exactly the same as if this woman was British.

Your rights and opportunities are exactly the same as if this woman was British.

Bear in mind with the above, if she does move in with you then you need to inform the benefits agencies, council tax etc and there could be some affect on the benefits you receive.
