COVID Insurance for the Thai Pass

Hi folks

We have decided to take the plunge and go to Thailand in October.

I have been checking about the Thai Pass and from what I can see we will need a certificate of vaccination, passport and 10,000 dollars worth of insurance cover which I presume must include for COVID.

From what I can see proof of a COVID test is not required if fully vaccinated ?

The page the Thai consular has a link to a USA insurance company for COVID / hospital cover: https://tqm-app.com/static/thailandpass/index.html has anybody used this or are there UK based insurances we can use easily recognised by the consular ?

I appreciate the Thai pass is a moving feast but any thought would be good

Dave you are correct but if you are travelling from UK Thai or not you need both travel and health insurance, just in case

The original questiom was about insurance for the Thai Pass.
Thai nationals do not require insurance for covid to get the pass.

Couple of questions as my trip is next month.

Do I specifically need to buy one of those Thailand Pass related covers or can I choose what I want?

When I go abroad I usually get travel insurance for the whole family and is annual multi-trip cover.

For the above Admiral has travel insurance with covid cover and is about £50-£60 and I get money off for having car insurance with them.

I did look on the comparison websites for travel insurance with a Thailand as destination and price is about £200.

As long as it covers Covid up to 10000 $ and you can save the the relevant section to a pdf file it does not need to be from a Thai Pass related company. A friend of mine is an ex copper and all he needed was a letter from the Police Federation insurance stating he was covered.

I got my Admiral Travel Insurance in the end and applied for Thailand Pass. Uploaded the document that said about covid being covered as well.

Got Thailand Pass issued within 30 minutes.

It has been the case now for some months that health insurance does not need to be "covid insurance". As linked on the Thailand Pass website a list of FAQ's on from the Minsitry of Foreign Affairs states:

Does my insurance have to be a COVID-19 insurance in order to register with Thailand Pass?
No. You can also use a standard/general insurance or health insurance with a minimum cover of 10,000 USD

Having said that you may wish the cover note to state something like "This health insurance policy which also includes covid-19 provides medical cover up to to summ of 10,000 USD"

I believe the Thai Pass now been dropped so no need now. Although I would always suggest that people do have some form of insurance even if only to cover accident/medical cover.
