New film out. True story of an English boxer who is locked up in one of Thailand's notorious prisons and fights Muay Thai tournaments to gain his freedom. Seem to remember the guy was in trouble again and couldn't make the film premire. Just downloading so can't say if it's any good.

Having watched the film last night, one thing comes to mind. I'd never want to get in trouble here. Horrific place to end up. Klong Prem Central Prison. Funny, if you Google it up, it has a 4 star rating

Out of 10, I would give it a 6. Not sure how true to life the story was, but that guy went to hell and back.

Very slow start, but gets better near the end. Its a bit one dimensional for me, a diary of events and even thru he is living in a Thai prison never seems to much of the language, or even his prisoner number. Worth watching, but its not not up their with the likes of Midnight Express, or the French 2010 prison film Un Prophet. Or The Raid, where the building becomes a prison.

Finally got around to watching it. The kind of film I'd watch once and never again. I thought it was well made on the whole but I'm simply not a fan of depressing viewing. I was close to turning it off at one point as it was just too dark. I'm amazed they got it released taking into consideration the betrayal of the Thai prison authorities.

dont panic strangeways have a 6 + and it doesnt cost you a pennie menu could do with a upgrade throe add some italian dishes and maybe sky sports ,

This probably explains why it was filmed in the Philippines and not Thailand. I tried reading the book but couldn't finish it, somewhat different to the film.

I watched it on our flight over to Thailand last month. Thought it was pretty good. Passed a couple of hours on the flight anyway
